| Adult Day Services
"I live with my daughter. I come here everyday. It's like brothers and sisters here. I'd be lost without my Bethel family." Bertha Thompkins, age 80, participant in Bethel's Adult Day Services.
Bethel Adult Day
Services Program began in 1983. In 1997 Adult Day Services began
servicing adults with disabilities through the Department of
Rehabilitative Services. The program has continued to serve around
100 elderly in the Central West area, thereby allowing the elderly
to remain in their home or community. Adult Day Services provides
transportation from home to the Center and then back home for
participants as follows: East to Lake Michigan, West to City limits,
North to Armitage, and South to the Ship Canal.
Adult Day
Services is currently seeking volunteers to aid as: group assistant
aides, transportation aides, activity aides, and retired nurses.
Program Requirements
Participants 60 years and over are referred by
the Department on Aging. Younger adults who are physically or mentally challenged are referred by the DHS Office of Rehabilitative Services.
